Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj in court in fight over his parole
PHILADELPHIA -- Meek Mill is in court in Philadelphia for his latest parole violation hearing, and Nicki Minaj is waiting to testify on behalf of her boyfriend.
Prosecutors say the 28-year-old Mill violated parole in a 2009 drug and gun case by repeatedly changing his court-approved travel schedule.
Defense lawyer Frank DeSimone says the music industry is chaotic and Mill is not trying to disrespect the judge.
But Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley is threatening to send Mill back to jail. She says Mill also submitted a suspicious urine sample.
The judge has kept a tight rein on the Philadelphia performer.
Minaj and Mill attended the American Music Awards together last month in Los Angeles.
DeSimone tells the judge the couple is serious about getting married and that Minaj would not marry a criminal or "bum."
