Matt Damon, Rooney Mara and more stars rally against dog eating festival
Matt Damon, Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are among the celebrities speaking out against the dog meat trade, just in time for the Yulin dog-meat eating festival.
In a star-studded video produced by the Animal Hope & Wellness foundation, Pamela Anderson, Kate Mara, Minnie Driver and other stars got emotional as they explained that dog eating is not a cultural issue: "This isn't about being American ... this is about being human."
Celebs explained that they want to be a voice for "those who cannot speak for themselves."
The video talked about how dog meat businesses torture and abuse the animals to ostensibly give consumers more of a health benefit.
"We are here asking you to stop the cruelty," pleaded Damon.
