Massive search ends after missing hikers found busking downtown

ASHEVILLE, North Carolina - Two hikers who were reported missing in the Pisgah National Forest have been found.

Turns out, they were playing music on the street in Asheville as a massive multi-agency rescue team was launched to find them.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office had said in a news release that 25-year-old Anthony Logan and Tesla Rackley, who is about 20, had not been seen since Saturday afternoon near the Laurel Creek and Squirrel Gap trailhead.

Crews were expected to return to looking for the missing pair on Tuesday morning in western North Carolina. The Asheville Citizen-Times said authorities used a helicopter from the North Carolina Highway Patrol and search dogs to try to find the hikers.

Authorities say the couple went camping on Wednesday and were separated from the other three people in their group. They were accompanied by a dog named Lucky.

Logan told WLOS -TV that the two hitched a ride to Asheville. He said it slipped his mind to call family.
