Maryland police seize nearly $1 million in drugs and firearms

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. -- Eight people allegedly associated with a drug trafficking ring in Maryland's Anne Arundel County were indicted Wednesday, and nearly $1 million in drugs, firearms and other paraphernalia have been seized, reports CBS Baltimore.

Police said the indictments for conspiring to possess and distribute heroin came after an eight-month investigation.

On Wednesday, investigators announced the arrests of Jessica Blackburn, 28, Louis Valentine, 33, John Thornton III, 41, Bernard Mooney, 54, Troy Branch, 21, Billy Jo Musgrove, 25, and Brandon Rutter, 28.

Police are still searching for one indicted suspect: Andres Fernandez, 40, of Arnold, Md.

Investigators said they seized heroin and cocaine with a street value of $500,000, a dozen firearms, nearly $90,000 in cash, and jewelry and cars valued at a combined $300,000.

Police said the alleged drug ring operated out of multiple locations in Anne Arundel County.
