Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will not appear on "Full House" revival

Apparently there isn't enough room in "Fuller House" for Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to reprise their shared role as Michelle Tanner.

The former child stars won't be returning for Netflix's revival of the hit sitcom "Full House," the show's executive producer Robert L. Boyett confirmed.

"Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of 'Fuller House,' I know how much 'Full House' has meant to them and they are still very much considered family," Boyett said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards 'Fuller House.'"

"Fuller House" is set to be released on Netflix in 2016 and will reunite many of the key Tanner family members and friends in their home city of San Francisco, including D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) as a veterinarian and widowed mom, Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) as an aspiring musician and D.J.'s best friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber) as a single mom. Dave Coulier will appear as Uncle Joey, and John Stamos, who will be producing the project, has promised to make guest cameos throughout the series.

The Olsen sisters kept mum on whether or not they'd sign on when "Fuller House" was first announced last month. "We just found out about it today," Mary-Kate told WWD. "I guess we're going to talk to the creators and see what's happening." The twins claimed they had no idea the show was getting a Netflix reboot until Stamos revealed it on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" --a claim Stamos says is "bull---t."

In spite of the discrepancies, Stamos asserted in a May 22 Facebook post that his motives for making "Fuller House" are entirely magnanimous: "Just so you reporters know - this is not a money gig for any of us- quite the opposite - we want to give the fans what they deserve for supporting us for so many years- we all just want to have fun - do it in a classy way on netflix and have a good time- sad that a few don't share the rest of the cast's opinion - I can only wish them the best - JS."
