Man pushing snow blower killed in Md. hit-and-run

FALLSTON, Md. -- A Maryland father of two was borrowing his neighbor's snow blower when he was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, reports CBS Baltimore.

Police say a driver in a Jeep Cherokee slammed into Chris Widomsky when he was pushing his neighbor's slow blower to his home in Fallston, about 20 miles northeast of Baltimore. The incident happened around 7 p.m. last Thursday, according to the station.

Witnesses told police the driver lost control of the Jeep, leading police to conclude that speed -- not snow -- led to the accident. The 44-year-old lay dying in the street while witnesses say the driver removed the snow blower stuck beneath the car before fleeing, according to the station.

"This is a flagrant disregard for human life," said Greg Shipley, of the Maryland State Police, told CBS Baltimore.

Investigators say the hit-and-run Jeep Cherokee has obvious damage to the front center or passenger side and are hoping someone will spot it soon. State police are reportedly searching for a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee with flared fenders, a silver push-bumper and a lift kit, which lets the vehicle sit higher off the ground.
