Man on trial for murder captured after escaping Georgia court

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — The U.S. Marshal’s Office said a man who was on trial in Georgia for murder has been captured after he simply walked away from court, reports CBS affiliate WGCL.

According to a police spokesperson, Shane Woods left the court during a break in the February trial, apparently not liking the way things were going.

He was convicted and sentenced anyway, according to authorities.

Woods and an accomplice were accused of  forcing their way into an Alpharetta home and then shooting two men, killing one, in a January 2013 drug-related incident, reports the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Police say Woods was found around 8 p.m. at an apartment complex in Clarkston. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail and will face additional charges, as police say firearms and narcotics were found during his arrest.
