Man charged with murder in California firebombing
SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. -- A 19-year-old man has been charged with murder in the firebombing of a California tire shop Saturday that left three dead.
Robert Fuentes faces three counts of murder with the special circumstance of committing multiple murders, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Prosecutors said in court Tuesday that early Saturday morning Fuentes threw a Molotov cocktail into Cheque Tires, in South El Monte, Calif., killing Rodrigo Gonzalez, 18, Destiny Monique Aguirre, 19, and 20-year-old Christopher Jimenez.
Video surveillance led detectives to identity Fuentes' vehicle, described as a gold 2002 Nissan Altima, according to CBS Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Times reports that at the time of the bombing the victims were celebrating Jiminez's birthday at the tire shop, which is a well-known community gathering spot.
Police are searching for additional suspects.
