Man charged in death of 7-year-old Kentucky girl
SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. -- A man has been arrested in the death of 7-year-old Gabriella Doolin, who was found murdered Saturday in a creek near her brother's youth football game, reports CBS affiliate WTVF.
Officials with the Kentucky State Police said Friday that 38-year-old Timothy Madden was taken into custody and charged with kidnapping, rape, sodomy and murder.
Few details about Madden were available. It was unclear why he may have been in the area of the football game, or if the girl, known to family and friends as Gabbi, knew him.
Her body was found just after 8 p.m. Saturday. The creek is in a wooded area behind Allen County-Scottsville High School. Gabriella had been attending her brother's football game before she went missing.
KSP investigators said the death was ruled as a homicide due to the condition in which she was found and other evidence at the scene. An autopsy confirmed the evidence.
Mourners lined the streets of the small Kentucky town near the Tennessee border Sunday to honor and remember Gabbi. The crowd was silent as her hearse approached the church where her funeral was held, WTVF reports.
