Man charged after 6 found dead at Texas campsite
ANDERSON COUNTY, Texas - A man has been charged with murder after the bodies of six people, one of whom was a child, were found near a private campsite in Texas, reports CBS affiliate KYTX.
The bodies of all six victims were found Sunday, according to police in Anderson County, about an hour's drive southeast of Dallas. They were members of two different families visiting from out of the area and staying in a travel trailer belonging to one of the victims.
The suspect, identified as William Hudson, owns property next to where the bodies were found. Hudson has been charged with one count of murder and is being held on a $2.5 million dollar bond.
Authorities have released few details about the crime. They haven't yet revealed a motive for the slayings or said how the people were killed. They also haven't released the victims' names and ages.
Five of the victims were male and one was a female. One woman who was staying in the trailer survived the incident, KYTX reports.
The surviving woman called 911.
KYTX reports three of the victims have been identified as Carl Johnson, Hannah Johnson and Thomas Kamp, who owned the property where the families were staying.
Four of the bodies were reportedly pulled from a pond behind Hudson's house.
Authorities are not seeking additional suspects. Hudson was apprehended at his mother's house, next door to his property.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office believes it's the largest homicide case in county history.
Additional charges are expected.
TX Rangers, Anderson County Sheriff's Office and Dallas Police Department are assisting in the investigation.
