Man arrested for pointing laser near LaGuardia, pilots injured

NEW YORK - The NYPD arrested a man accused of pointing a laser at two aircraft landing and taking off at LaGuardia Airport on Monday night, reports CBS New York.

The suspect, Frank Egan, 36, was located at an apartment in the Bronx. Authorities say they found a device labeled "Laser 303" on a refrigerator in the apartment.

Police say Egan admitted he owned the laser and used it that evening, reports the station.

Authorities say two police officers operating a helicopter assigned to the Aviation Unit sustained injuries to their eyes. They were treated at a hospital.

The pilot of an Air Canada flight also suffered injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Toronto.

Egan was charged with assault on a police officer, reckless endangerment and other charges.
