Some Lunchables are recalled by Kraft Heinz for allergy risk

More than 950 pounds of Lunchables are being recalled by Kraft Heinz Company due to an allergy risk and mislabeling

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall, saying Lunchables Ham and American Cracker Stackers contain wheat and soy, allergens not listed on the package. 

The popular kids’ lunch product was incorrectly labeled with a back label meant for Lunchables’ nacho variety.

The recalled 3.4-ounce boxes were manufactured on September 21, 2016, and have a “USE BY” date of December 25, 2016. The product also includes a production stamp time of 9:13 to 10:00 on the side of the plastic container, and an establishment number “EST. 537K” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The recalled Lunchables were shipped to retail locations in Utah and California.  

No adverse reactions have been reported at this time, but the recall came about after a consumer complaint was received.

“We apologize for this situation and are working hard to communicate with consumers and investigate how we can improve so this does not happen again,” Kraft Heinz said in a statement.

The USDA advised consumers who purchased the product not to throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
