La. man who allegedly bludgeoned wife arrested, kids OK
METAIRIE, La. - A suburban New Orleans man wanted in the death of a woman found bludgeoned to death in her bathtub Sunday morning has been arrested in Texas and the three children he disappeared with have been found.
Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say in a news release 43-year-old Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, of Metairie, was arrested in a trailer park in Katy, Texas, late Sunday night.
He now faces a second-degree murder charge.
Col. John Fortunato, a sheriff's office spokesman, says the man's three children who were with him at the time of his arrest are safe.
Fortunato says two other children went to a neighbor's apartment around 3:35 a.m. Sunday asking for help.
The slain 25-year-old woman's name hasn't been released. Sheriff Newell Normand says deputies found the woman unconscious with head wounds and she died in her apartment.
