Louis Tomlinson of One Direction going to be a dad

There's a baby on the way for Louis Tomlinson of One Direction.

ET confirms that the singer is expecting a child with Los Angeles-based stylist Briana Jungwirth.

"Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother. It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer," a friend told People.

The pal said Tomlinson plans to be a "hands-on dad" when the baby comes in early 2016. The boy bander has been looking for property nearby where Jungwirth lives, insiders say, and he's flown out to LA for Jungwirth's ultrasounds.

Tomlinson and Jungwirth, both 23, met through mutual friends earlier this year.

Previously, Tomlinson had been dating Eleanor Calder, but they split in March.

Tomlinson is currently on a North American tour with One Direction.
