Linking 3 cases, cops hunt serial rapist in Ohio college town
ATHENS, Ohio -- The police chief of a southeastern Ohio college town says authorities are seeking a sexual predator linked to the rapes of three women since 2006.
Athens Police Chief Tom Pyle on Thursday said DNA evidence shows the same person committed the separate but similar sexual assaults - one in 2006 and two last year.
The city is home to Ohio University.
The victims were all young women walking home in the middle of the night. The attacks occurred in 2006, June 20 and Dec. 12.
Pyle said police are increasing patrols and asking for the public's help in finding the suspect. The agency has asked the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for help with the investigation.
