Lindsey Vonn and Tiger Woods split, skier says

SAN FRANCISCO - Lindsey Vonn says she and Tiger Woods have decided to end their three-year relationship.

Vonn said Sunday on Facebook that the Olympic ski champion and 14-time major golf winner lead "incredibly hectic" lives that forced them to spend most of their time apart. She says Woods and his family "will always hold a special place in my heart."

They announced their relationship in mutual social media postings in March 2013. There was no immediate word from Woods on the split.

Woods went to Italy in January to watch Vonn break the World Cup record. She has been a regular in the crowd at his majors.

Woods has not won since August 2013 and will fall out of the top 120 in the next world ranking.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning" last month, Vonn gave no indication of trouble in their relationship.

Vonn said "80 percent" of their conversations were about competition and winning.

"We compete at everything," Vonn said. "Even if we're not talking about golf or skiing, we are playing ping-pong and pool and whatever we can do to compete."

However, Vonn admitted, "I think he's a better skier than I am a golfer."

The sports power couple confirmed they were dating in March 2013 after meeting at Tiger Jam, Woods' annual charity event in Las Vegas. Vonn said while people were surprised when she told them they were dating, her family loves him.
