Hitler's bathtub among highlights of Lee Miller's WWII London photo exhibit
Vogue model-turned-World War II photographer Lee Miller soaking in Adolf Hitler's bathtub is one of the images highlighted in a new exhibition at London's Imperial War Museum, "Lee Miller: A Woman's War."
Coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the war's end, the show focuses on Miller's capturing of women's experiences in the war. Miller was one of only four female photographers officially accredited by the U.S. military in WWII, working as a correspondent for the famous fashion magazine.
The American-born Miller made the leap to photography after a career as a Vogue cover girl and one of New York's top models in the 1920s. She lived a glamorous and exotic life, picked up a camera, trained with Surrealist Man Ray and later went on to document terrible scenes of death and destruction during the war, including the London Blitz and stark images of the liberation of concentration camps at Dachau and Buchenwald.
The exhibition, on display until April 24, 2016, includes around 100 of Miller's striking photos as well as artifacts and papers.
