Lauren Hill joins athletic greats with surprise honor

Basketball player with cancer honored on Wheaties box

CINCINNATI -- Lou Gehrig, Michael Jordan and Lauren Hill.

Terminally-Ill Ohio woman lives her dream

They all have one thing in common, CBS Cincinnati affiliate WKRC-TV reports. In addition to having her face on billboards and playing her first college game on national TV, the college freshman basketball player with terminal brain cancer is now the face for the breakfast of champions.

Hill got a care package Wednesday, and inside was her picture on the front and back of a Wheaties box. As far as she knows, it's just a one box thing. But once General Mills finds out how many people want a Lauren Hill Wheaties box, that may change.

She got the surprise after attending basketball practice at Mount St. Joseph University Wednesday.

"I said, 'Oh my gosh, wait till Dad sees this,'" she told WKRC-TV.

She said her body still hurts but her mind was sharp.

She's got more events planned, including dropping the puck for the Cincinnati Cyclones Saturday night.

Hill hopes to play in Mount St. Joseph's next game Nov. 21.
