Body believed to be missing Houston-area teen found after Amber Alert
TEXAS CITY, Texas -- A Houston-area teen who’s been missing since her mother and younger sister were found slain in the family’s home Tuesday has been found dead outside Galveston, reports CBS affiliate KHOU.
Police on Tuesday, responding to a relative not being able to contact family members, found the bodies of 37-year-old Cynthia Morris and her daughter, Breanna Pavilicek, 13, in their Baytown home. Both were shot.
An Amber Alert was issued for 16-year-old Kirsten Fritch, who also lived at the home. Officers in Texas City, just outside Galveston, discovered a body Wednesday in a wooded area near a bar they believe is Fritch, the station reported. An Amber Alert had been issued and crews had been combing the area for the teen when they made the discovery.
On Tuesday night, police in Texas City police detained 21-year-old Jesse Dobbs, a Baytown man who KHOU reports is Kirsten Fritch’s boyfriend. He was reportedly being held on a resisting arrest charge that stemmed from an encounter with Texas City police. KHOU reporter Tim Wetzel reported via Twitter that Dobbs is expected to be charged with Fritch’s murder.
Fritch’s grandmother, Barbara DeRamus, told the station Dobbs started dating Fritch after they met online and that he moved into the family’s house. She said Fritch’s mother wanted him out.
Police have said Dobbs is refusing to cooperate with police.
“This is a mother and grandmother’s worst nightmare,” Fritch’s grandmother, Barbara DeRamus, told the station.
Jail records don’t list an attorney to speak for him.
