Kim Kardashian West's baby is no longer breech
Kim Kardashian West says she is happy her baby is no longer breech.
The reality star wrote last week that her baby was breech, and that she was very worried about her pregnancy. Now, Kardashian West has revealed that her unborn son is no longer breech thanks to a medical procedure.
"This weekend, I checked into the hospital and underwent a procedure called an external cephalic version (ECV), which is done to manually turn the baby from a breech position to a head-down position," she wrote on her site on Tuesday.
Kardashian West, who is already mother to daughter North, said she was given medication to relax her uterus while doctors worked to turn the baby over. Her husband, Kanye West, and family went to the hospital with her.
The procedure was a risky one: Kardashian West said it could have made her water break or her baby's heart rate drop. If either of those situations had happened, Kardashian West would have had to undergo an emergency C-section.
Kardashian West said the procedure was perhaps even more painful than childbirth.
"They don't give you any pain medication, and let me tell you: This was soooooo painful. Probably more painful than childbirth," Kardashian West said. "BUT it worked!!!"
Kardashian West said the baby is now in the correct position, and she now no longer needs to worry about having a C-section. She has said before that she is hoping to have a vaginal delivery.
It's not necessarily smooth sailing from here, though. Kardashian West is now battling a cold and sinus infection. She wrote that sister Kourtney Kardashian will help out by taking care of North while she recovers.
