Kate Winslet gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Kate Winslet had something to celebrate on Monday, and it had nothing to do with St. Patrick's Day.

The Oscar-winning actress received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, four days ahead of the release of her latest film, "Divergent."

Winslet said she was "completely overwhelmed" by the amount of people in attendance, especially in light of the earthquake that shook the Los Angeles area earlier that day.

"I feel very honored, 20 years into my own career, to be standing in such poignant place, and being celebrated in such a spectacular fashion. Thank you very much for my star, and thank you very much for having me," she added.

The ceremony was attended by Kathy Bates (who starred with Winslet in "Titanic" and later in "Revolutionary Road") and fellow "Divergent" star Shailene Woodley.

"Kate was a lovely young actress, and I knew that she would be tremendously courageous in her career, that she would work really hard, and she would make something magnificent of herself, which is what she did," Bates said about first meeting Winslet on the set of "Titanic."

Woodley also had high praise for her co-star.

"She showed up every single day on time, with all of her lines memorized, with questions to be asked, not only for the director but for all of us actors, she was on set constantly, socializing with everybody, I know that sounds common, but this doesn't often happen with actors," she said. "Many things that I've learned from Kate, but the biggest, I guess, from an acting perspective is that she loves the art of being an actor."

"Divergent" -- starring Winslet, Woodley, Theo James, Ashley Judd and Tony Goldwyn -- opens in theaters on Friday.
