"Jurassic World" sequel has a release date...and Chris Pratt
After the smash success of "Jurassic World," it's no surprise that Universal is cooking up a sequel.
And there's already a theater release date for the big-screen dino flick: June 22, 2018.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles in the movie, which will be executive produced by Steven Spielberg under his Amblin Entertainment banner. "Jurassic World" director Colin Trevorrow is on board to co-write the screenplay with Derek Connolly.
"We wanted to make a movie for people who were coming of age when the original film came out and would see now as adults and love," Howard said about "Jurassic World" in an interview with CBS News.
"Jurassic World" is now the third top-grossing movie of all time (not including inflation), raking $1.522 billion at the global box office so far. It's now right behind "Avatar" ($2.788 billion) and "Titanic" ($2.186 billion).
