Judge to Johnny Manziel: No contact with ex-girlfriend

DALLAS -- Former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel made his first court appearance in Dallas on Thursday morning after his indictment for domestic violence.

Manziel, 23, was ordered by a judge to have no contact with his ex-girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, who he is accused of hitting and threatening to kill in January.

"You can't call her, you can't text her, you can't email her, you can't send her any letters or go where she's at," said Judge Roberto Cañas during Thursday's pretrial hearing.

The 23-year-old Heisman Trophy winner who starred at Texas A&M and played professionally for Cleveland Browns reported Wednesday to a Highland Park, Texas jail for booking and a mugshot. On Thursday, Cañas also barred Manziel from possessing firearms, which Manziel says he does not own or have at his home.

Manziel faces up to a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
