Josh Duhamel to star in Vince Gilligan's CBS series "Battle Creek"
Josh Duhamel is going to fight crime in "Battle Creek."
The "Safe Haven" star has joined the cast of the new CBS cop series from "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan.
The 41-year-old actor, and husband of The Black Eyed Peas' Fergie, will play Det. Milton Chamberlain, a Detroit FBI agent who gets sent to Battle Creek, Mich., to set up a satellite office there. Dean Winters will also star as a local police officer, Det. Russ Agnew. Chamberlain and Agnew will develop an odd-couple relationship, given their different backgrounds and methods of enforcing the law.
Additional cast members will include former "House, M.D." star Kal Penn and "Albert Noobs" actress Janet McTeer.
"X-Men" director Bryan Singer is on board as one of the show's executive producers. He'll also helm the first episode.
"House, M.D." creator David Shore will serve as the official showrunner of the series.
Gilligan first presented his "Battle Creek" idea to CBS back in 2002, long before "Breaking Bad" became a breakout hit on AMC. In addition to serving as a writer and executive producer on "Creek," Gilligan will also be busy working on his upcoming "Breaking Bad" spinoff, "Better Call Saul."
CBS has ordered 13 episodes of "Battle Creek," expected to begin airing in the fall of 2014.
