Report: Body of Conn. man who vanished from NYC party found

NEW YORK — The body of a Connecticut man who went missing in New York City was found in New Jersey on Wednesday, reports CBS affiliate WFSB.

Joseph Comunale was last seen attending a party in the upscale Grand Sutton tower residential complex in Manhattan early Sunday morning with friends. Police first responded to the scene when someone called 911 to report a suspicious man leaving the building dragging a large bag.

Detectives said the man then placed the bag in a car before driving away.

Sources told CBS New York that a police K-9 unit found clothing and a bloody sheet outside of the building, along with blood evidence on a luggage rack that was used by a fourth floor resident to remove some items on Monday, before placing them in a car. That same resident also allegedly asked the doorman how long video surveillance is retained by building management, according to CBS New York.

The sources told the station that two people are in custody, including a young man who lives in the apartment Comunale visited.

Investigators have not revealed where in New Jersey the body was found, or how it was located. No charges have been filed in the case.
