Child's remains found during search for missing girl, 3

GASTONIA, N.C. - Police say they've found a body they think may be a missing 3-year-old North Carolina girl, reports CBS affiliate WSPA.

Crews in Gaston County, North Carolina started looking for Jordan Ann Dumont Monday afternoon. She was reported missing from her home in Bessemer City, west of Charlotte, around 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Officials say her mother's boyfriend, who was caring for the child, told police he last saw the girl around 1 p.m. and notified authorities when he realized she was missing.

Police say they believe the boyfriend fell asleep while he was watching the girl.

Investigators are still interviewing people connected to the case Tuesday morning and no arrests have been made.
