Jennifer Lawrence's "The Hanging Tree" hits the Billboard chart

Jennifer Lawrence is officially a pop star.

The haunting song the Oscar-winner sings in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" debuted at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week.

"The Hanging Tree" is sung by Lawrence's character Katniss Everdeen in the film and becomes an anthem for the rebels fighting against President Snow and the Capitol.

"The Hunger Games" author Suzanne Collins wrote the lyrics, and the arrangement came courtesy of The Lumineers (the band behind "Ho Hey"). The song, released on Republic Records, is officially billed to composer James Howard Newton featuring Lawrence.

The song also debuted on music charts in the U.K. and Australia this week. Lawrence, for her part, wasn't particularly enthusiastic about singing in the film.

"I do not like singing in front of other people, that's like my biggest fear," she said during a recent appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman." "I cried on set that day. I'm scarred from my childhood because I have a Southern mother who would just tell me that I was amazing at everything, that I could do everything. But, I can't."
