Jena Malone playing Robin in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice"?

Holy casting rumors, Batman!

Jena Malone has joined the cast of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," according to reports, and it's been speculated that she could even be playing Batman's sidekick, Robin.

Multiple sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Malone ("The Hunger Games: Catching Fire") has a role in the film, but who she's playing is being kept under wraps.

However, Detroit news station WILX-10 spoke to an anonymous extra from the film, who shared details about a scene involving a fight between Batman (Ben Affleck) and Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) at a swanky party and also apparently divulged that the script features a female Robin. (The film is shooting in the Detroit area and the purported extra in the station's report -- who claimed a multimillion-dollar lawsuit could be filed against anyone who violated the film's nondisclosure agreement -- only had his or her hands shown on camera and voice altered to protect his or her identity.)

Warner Bros. has not commented on the rumors, but Malone has reportedly been spotted on the set and recently changed her hair to a bright red hue. "Drastic times call for drastic measures," she captioned an Instagram photo showing the new look.

A female Robin is not unheard of -- THR notes that "Batman v Superman" director Zack Snyder has said previously that the film takes cues from Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns" comic book miniseries, which introduces a schoolgirl character named Carrie Kelley who becomes the Caped Crusader's partner in fighting crime.

There's still plenty of time to debate casting rumors and plot speculation -- "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," also starring Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Amy Adams, won't hit theaters until March 25, 2016.
