CBS may have found its successor to Craig Ferguson at "The Late Late Show."

"The Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson makes a special announcement

Multiple reports said Tuesday that British actor James Corden will take over for Ferguson when he steps down at the end of this year. (CBS has not commented on those reports.)

Corden co-created and starred in the British comedy series "Gavin & Stacy," for which he won a BAFTA Award in 2008. He also earned a Tony Award in 2012 for his performance in the play "One Man, Two Guvnors."

He plays the Baker in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of "Into the Woods." Corden has also had roles in "Begin Again," "One Chance" "Gulliver's Travels" and a guest-star spot on TV's "Doctor Who."

Ferguson announced his exit from the "Late Late Show" in April, after David Letterman revealed he would be retiring from the "Late Show" next year. "The Colbert Report" host Stephen Colbert will be taking over for Letterman in the 11:35 p.m. time slot.
