Police: 3-year-old boy dies after abuse by mother's boyfriend
NEW YORK — A 3-year-old New York City boy who police say was abused by his mother’s boyfriend has died, reports CBS New York.
Jaden Jordan was taken off life-support Saturday, a week after he was found unconscious in his Brooklyn home.
Salvatore Lucchesse, 24, was charged with four counts of assault and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. There’s no word yet about upgraded charges.
The Administration for Children’s Services was tipped off to possible alleged abuse in the boy’s home, but the administration says it was provided with the wrong address.
They found the correct house three days later, the day the boy was hospitalized. Sources tell the station Lucchesse told investigators the boy slipped while he was in the bathtub, but doctors said the boy’s injuries don’t match the story — a fractured skull, bruising and brain damage point to alleged abuse, the station reports.
Police said the boy’s mother was not home when her son was allegedly injured. She was questioned and released and police said she is not facing any charges.
The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
