Dartmouth professor faces federal child porn charge

HANOVER, N.H. -- The case against a Dartmouth College professor accused of possessing child pornography has been transferred to federal court.

The Valley News reports that five state-level charges against 49-year-old J. Martin Favor have been dropped and replaced with one federal count of possessing child pornography. He pleaded not guilty last week in U.S. District Court.

Favor, who was arrested at his Plainfield home in September, remains on paid administrative leave from Dartmouth, where he is an associate professor of English. His attorney declined to comment on the charges.
