Is a "Xena: Warrior Princess" reboot in the works?

"Xena: Warrior Princess" could return to television in a new updated form.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC is looking into a reboot of the action-drama, which starred Lucy Lawless and aired from 1995-2001.

Things are reportedly in the early development phases with original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi in talks to bring it back.

It's unclear if the reboot will be a full-on series with an option for renewal, or more of a limited-run series like we've been seeing lately.

There's no official word about Lawless' involvement, but insiders say producers hope to cast her in an on-screen role, or even a behind the scenes one.

But Lawless took to Twitter Monday to deny the report, calling the reboot "just a rumor."

If the "Xena: Warrior Princess" comes to fruition, we could see it air as soon as next year.
