Former Boy Scout leader charged with sexually abused 5 boys
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A former Boy Scout leader from Nashville who stands accused of abusing five boys has been indicted on statutory rape, sexual battery and other felony counts.
The boys were allegedly abused by 44-year-old Darrell G. Fisher between 2008 and 2015, The Tennessean reported, according to the indictment.
Fisher was arrested in January after a 17-year-old boy told investigators Fisher had abused him for several years at Fisher's home, police said in a news release. The boy said he met Fisher when he was 11, CBS affiliate WTFV reported.
The Boy Scouts of America severed ties with Fisher after accusations in the case surfaced.
"We removed him immediately when the allegation came up," Scout executive Larry Brown of the Middle Tennessee Council was quoted as saying. "We have 6,300 leaders in the Middle Tennessee Council. One case of this is too many; we'll always strive to protect our young people."
Fisher met the additional four victims through World War II re-enactment programs that Fisher led for the Boy Scouts, Metro police spokesman Don Aaron said.
The boys were between the ages of 11 and 14 when the incidents began, according to the indictment.
The charges include two bribery counts, with Fisher accused of giving two of the boys money so they would not come forward.
It's unclear whether Fisher has an attorney. The report said Fisher is in jail and is scheduled for a May 11 arraignment.
