IMDb reveals the top 10 TV shows of 2016

As 2016 wraps up, IMDb has tallied up the most popular television shows of the year, and HBO’s “Game of Thrones” has come out on top once again.

IMDb’s senior film editor, Keith Simanton, pointed out that HBO’s hugely popular “Game of Thrones” has held the top spot for five years running.

“’Game of Thrones’ has demonstrated unparalleled and enduring popularity over the last five years,” Simanton said. “Not surprisingly, its lead actors are beloved as well. Emilia Clarke for example, is IMDb’s No. 2 top star of 2016, a spot she also occupied in 2015.”

Tellingly, only one network TV show -- The CW’s “The Flash” -- made the list, with the rest of the spots going to cable and streaming series.

Here’s the entire list, determined by the traffic habits of IMDb’s users:

“Game of Thrones”
“Stranger Things”
“The Walking Dead”
“Westworld”
“American Horror Story”
“The Flash”
“Mr. Robot”
“Orange Is the New Black”
“Vikings”
“Daredevil”
