Husband kills wife, then self, outside Memphis Kroger

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A man shot and killed his wife Wednesday outside a Kroger supermarket in Memphis, then took his own life, reports CBS affiliate WREG.

Police say Rodriguez Hunter slammed his SUV into Chatoya Hunter's car as she arrived to work at the Kroger at around 5:40 a.m.

She jumped out of the truck and ran as her husband started shooting at her.

Witnesses said Chatoya begged for her life, before being shot in the head and dying in the parking lot.

Chatoya Hunter's family told the Memphis Commercial Appeal that her husband had been terrorizing her all week. She feared for her life, they said.

When a police officer arrived, Rodriguez Hunter reportedly pointed his gun at the officer, yelling for the officer to shoot him. Moments later, Hunter shot himself.

He died at the Regional Medical Center.
