How Ciara lost 60 pounds after having a baby
Hip-hop singer Ciara unveiled her incredible post-pregnancy body in Shape's September issue after losing 60 pounds in four months.
The Grammy Award winner gave birth to son Future Zahir Wilburn with her ex-fiancé, rapper Future, in May 2014. She told Shape that she was like "the Tasmanian Devil" when it came to stuffing herself with food during her pregnancy.
"I indulged in all the good food the world has to offer," she told the magazine. "After he was born -- when I couldn't exercise yet -- I kept eating, and I gained 60 pounds."
Don't call the multi-tasking celebrity, who also acts and models, a slacker, though. She said as soon as the doctor gave her the go-ahead, Ciara was working out two or three times each day with her trainer Gunnar Peterson.
"I would go to Gunnar first for my one-hour training session, then I'd have two more cardio sessions later in the day. That, along with a really clean eating plan, was how I lost 60 pounds in four months," she explained.
She shared her workout and dieting secrets with readers; the star still loves to occasionally cheat.
Ciara admitted that she has a soft spot for fries and Oreos and indulges once in a while even when she's dieting. She also said she fills up on water and sometimes talks herself out of eating junk by reminding herself, "The food isn't going anywhere."
The star also said she loves incorporating boxing into her workout because it's "three-in-one training: It's hitting your muscles; it's a cardiovascular workout; and it's a mental exercise. You have to be superfocused when you're boxing. After I've done a few rounds, I feel as if I can conquer the world."
We'll take her word for it: Ciara, 29, released her sixth studio album this past year, starred in the NBC series "I Can Do That," went on tour and started a relationship with Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Oh, and she takes care of her baby.
