Houston police exchange gunfire with suspects in SW Houston

HOUSTON -- Two Houston police officers opened fire on a pair of armed suspects in southwest Houston early Tuesday, according to CBS affiliate KHOU.

Police say the shots were fired around 2:45 a.m. near the Southwest Freeway, reports the station.

Police say two officers, Officer Falcone and Officer Salamanca, were working an initiative in an area known for drugs. They heard a shot and witnesses directed them to an alley behind the Principe Azul nightclub says the station.

Officers say they saw a flash of a muzzle on the passenger side of a car that was coming directly at them in the alleyway. Both officers each fired at least one shot. It's unclear who the suspects were firing at, reports the station, but no one was injured.

The suspects' white Impala was found by police about a half of a mile away on the wrong side of the road, and both suspects were fleeing on foot, reports the station. Officers captured the suspects and no one was injured, but a gun was reportedly found in the suspects' vehicle.
