Hospital: Diplomat wounded in S. Korea attack to be released
SEOUL, South Korea - A Seoul hospital says it expects to release injured U.S. Ambassador Mark Lippert after five days of treatment because of a knife attack.
Lippert has been hospitalized at Seoul's Severance Hospital since Thursday when a knife-wielding man slashed him on the face and wrist during a breakfast forum in Seoul.
The attack has caused an outpouring of public sympathy and support for the envoy in South Korea, with high-profile figures visiting him and activists holding pro-U.S. rallies.
Severance Hospital says Lippert is to leave the hospital later Tuesday.
Hospital officials say Lippert still feels some pain on his wrist but it's manageable with a weak pain reliever.
