Police probe fatal stabbing of Long Island woman

NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. - Homicide detectives on Long Island are investigating the death of a 67-year-old woman in New Hyde Park.

Nassau County police say Sandra Bloom's body was discovered by her husband on the kitchen floor of their home just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say she had been stabbed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the victim's 44-year-old son, Vaughn Bloom, was found on the couch unconscious in the home. He was hospitalized in guarded condition.

Police gave no other details.
