Hillary Clinton says she’s “doing great” post-debate

Hillary Clinton speaks from plane on debate performance

EN ROUTE TO WHITE PLAINS -- Hillary Clinton said she was surprised on Sunday night by what she called an “absolute avalanche of falsehoods” from her opponent in the second presidential debate.

“I really find it almost unimaginable that someone can stand and just tell, you know, a falsehood after falsehood,” Clinton told reporters on board her campaign plane in St. Louis.

She brushed off Trump’s tone, and his decision to invite her husband’s accusers into the debate hall.

Overall, Clinton told reporters that she was “doing great” after the debate. After Clinton boarded her campaign plane with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, members of her tight-knit debate team and other aides gave her a round of applause.

“Actually great,” she said. “The most important thing is -- we need to take off, so that we can actually have some drinks served.”

Robby Mook, Clinton’s campaign manager, pointed to Clinton’s explanation of her record working on behalf of children and families and her speaking about wanting to “heal the divide” as stand-out moments during the 90-minute back and forth which, at times, devolved into very personal attacks. Mook and other campaign officials, in particular, praised the Democratic nominee’s ability to rise above Trump’s focus on her husband’s past.

“He wanted to throw Hillary Clinton off her game, and he needed to rehabilitate what has been a failing campaign,” Mook said. “The stunt didn’t work and frankly, the debate didn’t work for Trump because this race fundamentally hasn’t changed.”
