Hillary Clinton fundraises off of Sarah Palin's Trump endorsement

Clinton steps up attacks on Sanders

Hillary Clinton's campaign has begun fundraising off of Sarah Palin's endorsement of Donald Trump.

In an email blasted out to supporters, the campaign embedded a clip from CNN's coverage of the endorsement announcement on Tuesday with the chyron, "Palin endorses Trump: "I'm in it to win it."

"Friend, this could be our next president listening to his Secretary of Energy," Clinton's campaign wrote in the email. "Donate to make sure this is nothing more than a bad SNL skit come to life."

The campaign provided a link to donate to the campaign.

Palin told CNN in September that she would be happy to join a Trump administration and suggested she would be interested in leading the Department of Energy.

"Energy is my baby -- oil and gas and minerals, those things that God has dumped on this part of the Earth for mankind's use, instead of relying on unfriendly foreign nations for us to import their resources," she said on CNN.

The former governor of Alaska and 2008 vice presidential nominee formally endorsed Trump at a rally in Ames, Iowa on Tuesday evening.

"We are ready for a change," Palin said at the event, with Trump standing by her side. "We are ready, and our troops deserve the best -- a new commander in chief whose track record has proven he is a master at the art of the deal."

"He is beholden to no one but we the people -- how refreshing."

The endorsement comes less than two weeks before primary voting kicks off with the Iowa caucuses on Feb. 1.
