Harry Styles signs solo recording contract with Columbia
For One Direction fans hoping the group's current hiatus is only temporary, this doesn't bode well.
The British boy band's most popular member, Harry Styles, has signed a recording contract with Columbia Records as a solo artist, according to Billboard.
The terms of the contract weren't revealed, and there is so far no release schedule for solo singles or albums, sources told the publications.
Styles is currently at work on his first major film role, in Christopher Nolan's WWII drama, "Dunkirk."
One Direction's albums are also part of Columbia Records, under Simon Cowell's Syco Records imprint.
