Gymnastics "Tricks": Treasurer stole $160,000 from club, cops say

BUCKS COUNTY, Pa. -- A longtime treasurer for a Pennsylvania gymnastics club is accused of pulling off a high-flying fraud...in the amount of $160,000.

Therese Foote spent 12 years as treasurer of her daughter's gymnastics club in Bucks County -- that is, until she was forced to resign back in December, CBS Philly reported. But even that was before the alleged massive theft was discovered by her successor, who found a separate bank account and several unauthorized charges, according to the station.

Parents at the club couldn't believe it.

"I feel bad for the parents and the families that it affected. And also for the owners, because they're wonderful people here," said Megan Bristol, one parent.

"For the gym to lose money...it's really a tragedy, I think," another parent told CBS Philly.

With no system of checks and balances in place, court documents show Foote was allowed to make purchases on her own. The club says she provided treasury reports, but with very few details and never included bank records.

Foote is charged with four felonies, including theft.

She is currently free on $100,000 unsecured bail.
