Good Samaritan killed helping stalled driver
SACRAMENTO -- A person trying to do a good deed for a stranded driver lost their life in a crash on Interstate 80 in California reports CBS Sacramento.
The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to California Highway Patrol. A car ran out of gas and stalled in the westbound express lanes. Another driver, now being called the good Samaritan, stopped on the eastbound side to try and help the driver get some gas.
After helping the driver get gas the good Samaritan dropped the driver back off at their car. The good Samaritan was then rear-ended by another on-coming car, reports CBS Sacramento. According to California Highway Patrol, the driver who rear-ended the good Samaritan's car was an off-duty police officer.
The good Samaritan's car burst into flames and the person inside died.
Person killed in the crash has not yet been identified.
