Ga. state university student missing after Uber group ride

ATLANTA --A Georgia State University student is missing after taking an Uber group ride, according to news reports and theBlack and Missing Foundation.

21-year-old Monique Priester was last heard from when she called her mother Friday evening around 6:15 p.m. According to the Black and Missing Foundation, Priester had left her family's home in Dacula earlier that afternoon, heading to the university's downtown campus for a study group. In the phone call with her mother, Priester said she was using Uber's group ride option to get back home, about 40 miles northeast, and was somewhere in Atlanta's west end waiting for the last rideshare user.

She never made it. In a statement to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, an Uber spokesperson said the company was working with investigators to help find Priester. Police reportedly say they have no reason to suspect foul play in the disappearance.

Family and friends say Priester was wearing a gray tank top and shorts, and carrying only a backpack and laptop when she was last seen. They say it's not like her to leave home. Priester's mother said she detected bank account activity in Nashville, which she's asked police to look into.

Priester has a tattoo on her left forearm, gauges in both ears and a septum piercing. Her hair is closely shaved. Anyone with information is asked to call authorities.
