Georgia O'Keeffe Country
Santa Fe's Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is more than just a repository of more than 3,000 of her works and personal items: it's the most-visited art museum in the state of New Mexico.
Fitting, then, that almost 30 years since her death, the countryside where she worked is still known as "O'Keeffe Country."
She painted the mountains around her home so many times she once said she "owned them."
Photographers Ansel Adams and Eliot Porter also made an imprint with their visions of New Mexico, and artists today still flock to the region with brushes and cameras in hand.
