George R.R. Martin assures "Game of Thrones" fans he's still alive

News of Beatles producer George Martin's death Tuesday night spurred many reactions and tributes -- and some genuine expressions of concern for "Game of Thrones" author George R.R. Martin from some confused fans.

The writer and creator of the hit book series and HBO program was so overwhelmed with fans mistakenly thinking he'd passed away that he felt compelled to address it in a post to his LiveJournal blog.

"While it is strangely moving to realize that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death, I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated," the author wrote in the post, titled "Not Dead Yet."

"It was Sir George Martin, of Beatles fame, who has passed away. Not me. He will be missed."

As a tribute to his late namesake, he included in the post a video of the Beatles performing "Yesterday."
