"Game of Thrones" crashes HBO GO during season 4 premiere

"Game of Thrones" cast on season 4

HBO GO came to a sudden stop Sunday night during the broadcast of the "Game of Thrones" season 4 premiere.

The premium cable channel's digital on demand service was stalled by the return of the popular mythical drama series, which is based on the best-selling books by George R.R. Martin.

"HBO GO did experience issues due to overwhelming demand around the premiere of 'Game of Thrones,'" reps from the channel told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement late Sunday night. "The service has returned to several platforms and we are working hard towards full recovery, which we expect soon."

According to THR, viewers hoping to catch up on the Lannisters and the rest of the world of Westeros were met with slow loading times and error messages on the GO app.

The issue appeared to have been corrected by the time the season premiere finished airing on the West Coast.

Last month, HBO GO also temporarily crashed during the season 1 finale of the crime drama series, "True Detective."
