"Game of Thrones" producers apologize for Hodor -- sort of
The brains behind HBO's hit "Game of Thrones" are sorry about the most recent episode, but not for the reason you'd suspect.
Sunday's outing revealed the origin behind the name of beloved character Hodor (Kristian Nairn) -- and the cause of his demise -- when he was commanded to "hold the door" and keep back an army of undead soldiers while Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) made their escape.
Plenty of fans were shocked and upset by the turn of events, so executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recorded a message for "Jimmy Kimmel Live" expressing their regret.
"Not for killing Hodor. We kill a lot of main characters," Benioff said, seated on a sofa with Weiss surrounded by piles of cash. "We're sorry for all the idiots, who, from now on will be shouting 'Hodor!' every time you go through a door."
Well, at least it's something.
