Foul play not suspected in Texas duck hunters' deaths, report says

CALHOUN COUNTY, Texas -- Officials do not suspect foul play in an incident involving three men who were found dead after they went missing on a duck hunting trip, KPRC-TV reports.

While the incident is still under investigation, officials said early on it did not appear anything criminal took place, according to the station.

The three men went hunting near Texas’ Carancahua Bay on Friday morning. They launched their 17-foot flat-bottom boat around 4 a.m., and were supposed to return that morning, CBS affiliate KHOU reported. When they didn’t, a girlfriend of one of the men contacted authorities.

The men were found dead on Saturday afternoon, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The men are 19-year-old Spencer Hall, 25-year-old Starett Burk, and 18-year-old Christian Ruckman, the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard said an aluminum boat was recovered. The Coast Guard also said a small craft advisory was in effect on the water all day on Friday.
